Believe It or Not, Summer Body Season Has Already Begun

Here are some tips to get you on an early pace for 2024

As a lifelong native NYer, I have the seasons built into my physical chemistry to the point where can smell a thunderstorm coming. For us, the summer months are crucial for our pursuit of happiness. Once the sun is out and the temperature rises, so do the opportunities to express yourselves to the world. When you're living in a city of 8 million, you can easily lose focus of the amount of discipline it takes to stand out from the crowd. The distractions are plentiful and to be honest, very devilishly inviting. This is the number one reason why most of the NY fitness community is already back in the gym working on their new year bodies so early, and you should too!

Already building for the summer and staying ready throughout winter.
Even now in the month of October, the weather is cooling slowly from the warmer days just a few weeks prior. There are still reasons to keep up with that workout plan that you may have let slip away after Labor Day weekend. The cooler weather is an intro to winter, but not cold enough to grab the bubble coats and boots just yet. This leaves the opportunity open to still be your best physical self. If you stay ready, you won't have to get ready.
Planning for the Winter Ahead
The next few months involve the easiest ways to lose focus and get some well-deserved rest. Thanksgiving dinner is already mentally prepped for you at least a couple of weeks prior to the holiday. Most gym members are not seen as frequently and if they manage to slow their fitness routine down too much, they see Christmas around the corner and most likely won't set foot into a gym until the infamous "New Year Resolution" season. This can easily snowball into bad habits that can hinder your goals and ultimately, your self-image.
For the average person, the enthusiasm to get back into the gym in the new year is usually slowed down in about a month. This is then sped up around March or April when the first signs of spring approach...then it's crunch time. This sounds good when using your inner monologue but once the habit has fallen too far behind, so has the motivation. Don't be a victim of this trap. Once your routine has maintained itself during the colder months, then March and April can be used as early summer body previews since you've already hit your aesthetic goals. Now instead of trying to catch up, you just need simple maintenance until it's showtime again.
Consistency is Key
Nothing in life is constant. Everything changes and fluctuates whether you realize it or not. Just about every aspect of our lives could be represented by a stock chart: everyday highs and lows. Your meat vehicle is no different. Every day, you're either getting stronger or weaker. Life takes no days off. Once you understand this natural law, you can plan your routines as well as your break times for rest accordingly. Just keep in mind that the best summer bodies are already being built right now. So, let's start building!
